ESAB Savage A41 Air Welding Helmet with EPR-X1.1 PAPR Kit

This kit pairs the ESAB Savage A41 Air welding helmet, part number 0700504102, with the ESAB EPR-X1.1 PAPR, part number 0700500920 — ESAB’s current-generation powered air-purifying respirator. Together they are certified to EN 12941:2023 TH3 P: the highest assigned protection class for loose-fitting powered air respirators, suitable for high-fume welding processes including stainless steel and hardfacing applications.

The Savage A41 Air is the digital-interface successor to the Savage A40 Air. It carries an extended shade 8-13 range, a True Colour auto-darkening filter with a 100 x 50 mm viewing area, four arc sensors and a simple digital push-button control panel with multi-colour LED feedback. An externally activated grind button locks the ADF to passive shade 4 for quick finishing work without removing the helmet. The helmet’s ventilation system drafts filtered air from the top of the headgear for comfortable airflow during long welding sessions.

The EPR-X1.1 PAPR turbo unit runs at three user-selectable airflow speeds — 170, 190 or 210 l/min — provides up to 10 hours of battery life at 170 l/min, and uses a P3 particle filter with replaceable pre-filter and spark arrestor. Audio, visual and vibration alarms warn the user of low airflow or low battery in real time. An optional A1B1E1 gas filter is available for combined gas and particulate protection.

Respiratory Protection Classification

The ESAB Savage A41 Air welding helmet combined with the ESAB EPR-X1.1 PAPR is certified to EN 12941:2023 class TH3 P — the highest classification for loose-fitting powered air-purifying respirators under EN 12941. ESAB’s own EPR-X1.1 fact sheet lists the Savage A41 family in its compatible-helmets list and states the TH3 P certification. The TH3 nominal protection factor allows use in many high-exposure welding scenarios, subject always to the user’s site-specific risk assessment.

Suitable For

Welders and fabricators who need both an air-fed welding helmet and TH3-rated powered respiratory protection in a single kit. Typical applications include heavy fabrication, structural welding, stainless and chrome-nickel alloys, and any environment where the user’s risk assessment identifies welding fume or particulate exposure above the relevant workplace exposure limit. Final suitability should always be assessed against the materials being welded, the welding process, ventilation, exposure limits and the user’s documented risk assessment.
