Where to Find Expiry Dates on 3M Aura Masks?
Posted on 4th Jul 2025

In a hurry?
Simply unfold your 3M Aura respirator, flip it so you are looking at the inner surface, and read the “use-by” date that is stamped on the lower (chin) panel.
Why the date matters
3M rates the Aura 9300+ series for a five-year shelf life when the mask is stored in its original wrapper under cool, dry conditions.
After that period the electrostatic filter media can lose efficiency and the head-straps may begin to degrade, so the respirator may no longer achieve its assigned protection factor.
One-step location check
-
Open the mask fully – the Aura’s tri-panel design lets you flatten the nose, middle and chin panels.
-
Face the inside surface – if you can read “3M Aura 9330+” the right way up, rotate it 180 ° so the text is upside-down.
-
Look at the chin panel – the expiry appears as a stamped line such as
2027/01/28(YYYY/MM/DD). It is printed on every genuine mask as well as on the carton.
Tip: while the mask is still sealed you can usually spot the same date through the clear wrapper.
Troubleshooting quick-guide
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| No date at all | Possible counterfeit or the ink has rubbed off – verify against the box or do not use. |
| Date is past | Mask is expired and should be discarded per 3M guidance. |
| Numbers smeared / unreadable | Treat as expired unless you can confirm the date from unopened masks in the same batch. |
Pro-tips for longer service life
-
Store cool and dry – keep between –20 °C and +25 °C and below 80 % RH to avoid premature strap or filter degradation.
-
Leave the wrapper on until you’re ready to don the respirator; the sealed pouch protects the electrostatic charge.
-
Batch-check on delivery – when a new case arrives, spot-check one mask’s chin panel so you are never surprised by a close expiry date.
